The history

Bifreiðaverkstæði Guðvarðar og Kjartans

G.K. Viðgerðir is a small car repair workshop founded in 1974 by Guðvarður Hákonarson and his wife Erna Kjartansdóttir at Grund in Mosfellsdalur.

In 1992 work began on the premises at Flugumýri 16c, then under the name Bifreiðaverkstæði Guðvarðar og Kjartans, where the workshop is still in operation, run by their sons Kjartan and Ingólfur, who bought their mother out of the business.

1992

The premises at Flugumýri 16c

The workshop has been at Flugumýri 16c in Mosfellsbær since the premises were built from 1992 onwards. It is still there today.

The full legal name of the business is G.K. Viðgerðir ehf, classified under ÍSAT 45.20.1, general car repair workshops. The workshop itself has been in operation since 1974 — for more than fifty years.

Kjartan and Ingólfur

The workshop is run today by the brothers Kjartan and Ingólfur, sons of Guðvarður and Erna. They bought their mother out of the business and have carried the work on in the same place.

Kjartan Guðvarðarson is the managing director of G.K. Viðgerðir ehf.

That means you speak with the same people who do the work — from the first phone call until the car is collected.
